Decision Determines Destiny

Our Condition

The Bible states that mankind has a problem of SIN. Sin is an attitude or action that misses the mark and falls short of God's perfect standard. The Bible tells us that there is nothing WE can do to solve this problem. We aren't required to subscribe to a religious formula or do more "good" things than "bad" ones. The end result is death (eternal separation from God). Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life".

Do you know for sure that when your pilgrimage on planet Earth is over that you are going to be with God in heaven? You can!

You might answer:

I don't know?

I am doing the best I can!

I'll take my chances!

Well, for the next few minutes, let us look at what God has planned for our lives on planet Earth in preparation for the life hereafter - HEAVEN.

The Bible states that the sin problem plagues all mankind, with the end result being eternal separation from God. This is confirmed in John 3:36, "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life: and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him".

You must come to realize that if your spirit does not go into the hands of God at death for safe keeping, it will go into the hands of God for judgment! The same hands that speak of hope and comfort also speak of terror and punishment. We are warned in Hebrews 10:31 that "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God". The hands that today are outstretched inviting us to receive mercy are the same hands that will sentence the unrepentant into the pit of loneliness, despair, and eternal suffering.

Before Timothy McVeigh was executed, he said that he would have plenty of company in hell. One woman who was interviewed agreed that he would have company there with the likes of Hitler, Hussein, and Holmolka. Hell will, also, be filled with many who

paid their taxes, refused to commit immorality, and were never charged with a crime.

In short, all those who do not come under the protection of Christ's righteousness will eventually be separated from Him in constant torment. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 7:14, " the way of life is narrow and those who find it are few".

Perhaps you are thinking, "I will live as I please and at the last minute I will say, 'Father into your hands I commit my spirit'". Then, too, you might be saying, "I am the captain of my soul and the master of my fate". Or, perhaps you are thinking that you want to eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you might die. We only pass this way but once. At a more convenient time you will attend to your eternal destiny. Proverbs 27:1 "Boast not yourself of tomorrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth".

Well, if you are thinking in this vein, let me inform you that, with very few exceptions, you will die as you have lived. If God is not your Father now, it is highly improbable that you will accept Him as your Father as death draws near.

We are prepared for heaven when we embrace Christ as our sin bearer, accepting what He did on the cross- the solution to our sin problem.
Don't be wrong about whether or not you are in God's protective hands!
